Safer Spaces
Familiar symbols. An unmistakable community identity.
← All selected workThe brief
Safer Spaces was a New York City community organization serving queer and polyamorous communities. The identity needed to feel immediately welcoming and recognizable to its audience while remaining flexible enough to support both community programming and organizational communications.
The approach
I developed a more direct visual language rooted in familiar LGBTQ+ symbolism. A rainbow gradient established the core palette, while the logo combined three distinct pieces of queer iconography into a single mark—creating something recognizable to the community without relying on any one symbol alone.
The work
The resulting identity carried across the organization's print and digital materials, using the logo, gradient, and supporting graphic system to create a consistent visual presence. The system was bold and highly recognizable while remaining adaptable across different formats and communications.
