The Farmer and the Belle
Two hometowns, one love story.
← All selected workThe brief
The Farmer and the Belle is a romance novel based on a true story. The cover needed to communicate both the central love story and the contrast between two very different worlds: big-city life and a rural farm.
The approach
I built the concept around that contrast, blending imagery from the two protagonists' hometowns into a single visual landscape. A vintage locket featuring the real-life couple from the 1930s became the emotional focal point, grounding the design in both romance and history.
The work
The final cover combines place, period, and portraiture into one cohesive composition. The juxtaposition of the two hometowns reinforces the star-crossed-lovers theme, while the locket gives the story a personal, intimate quality and makes the real-world history part of the visual narrative.
