Oklahoma Heritage Project
Uncovering queer history, one mark at a time.
← All selected workThe brief
Oklahoma Heritage Project is a sub-initiative of Rainbow Community Heritage Project, a nonprofit dedicated to documenting LGBTQ+ history, material culture, and regional stories. The identity needed to communicate both its queer focus and its investigative, research-driven mission.
The approach
I built the concept around visual discovery. A rainbow magnifying glass became the primary symbol, combining a recognizable LGBTQ+ cue with the language of research and investigation. Within the name, the magnifying glass highlights a small queer icon, reinforcing the idea of uncovering overlooked history.
The work
The final logo uses a simple visual metaphor to communicate the project's purpose quickly and clearly. The rainbow treatment connects it to the LGBTQ+ community, while the magnifying glass gives the identity a distinct investigative character appropriate for a heritage and documentation initiative.
